1st birthday

So here are some photos - only some - of the first birthday my little sun had before he got sick ...

As I have already told you we had carrot cake for breakfast. My son got his own cake. And the most amazing thing to me was that he blew out the candle we had put into the cake.

He blew it out all by himself!!!!

He had never done that before ...

He took out the second candle - that was in a holder - by himself too. But this one he did with his hand!
He was so quick I could not do anything about it. Luckily it was only a very small candle and he did not hurt himself!

Apparently the experience of a hot flame was not aversive enough ... he still thought it was VERY YUMMY!
:-)
Sorry, I can not help smiling about that picture!

(I DO realize that eating candles is not healthy for a baby.)

After the cake and the candles he unpacked his present. But he was actually not very interested in that at all! :-)
Sweet boy.

He got his first pair of shoes - as he is walking pretty good now. And he needed shoes anyway. I figured it would be good for him to be able to actually walk to the ducks ... instead of always just looking at them from his buggy.

Here we are at the zoo thingy watching cute little guinea pigs!
It is not a zoo - I am just too lazy right now to look up the proper word in English ...
When putting up that picture I realized that this is probably the first time ever that I put up a photo of me. Is it? You know WITH head and all! Not even blurry. :-)
So people, you better enjoy this! Cause it is not going to happen much more often!

Okay, one more. For the road! ;-)
But that is it!!!
Little man and little bear enjoying the ducks and the black swan!

It was a good day!

Cute photos! I don't know what the word for a "small zoo" is in English either - in America they call it a "petting zoo" but we don't use the word petting in England (except in an old fashioned way to mean kissing), I can't think what we'd call it!

@ Wendy
You know ... I thought that I just do not know the word ... But after you commented I got curious and looked it up after all ... and you know what? There does not seem to be another word but zoo!!! In German we have actually two words ... but both are translated with zoo ... Strange!

Aww, it's always fun to see how they'll react to cake and candles. Cute photos.
