I hate pompoms

Did I write that I liked pompoms? I must have been totally out of my mind. Well, I do like the look of pompoms. But I must have forgotten ... I hate MAKING pompoms! It all came back when I started cutting two cardbord circles ... I never liked making pompoms! I loved crafting and crocheting even when I was a kid. But even then ... I did not like making pompoms! Making pompoms was one of those things that look "oh so easy". But once you start doing it you realize ... this is going to take FOREVER. And you are not patient enough and finish before there is enough yarn on the cardbord circles ... and the pompoms end up ... well, not exactly looking like pompoms ... BAD MEMORIES!

Anyway, I still gave it a try. It even did look like a pompom after I was done. (I still think that it takes a ridiculous amount of time and yarn to finish one of these little bastards!) But of course there was no way it could just work out ... the pompom was way too big! So I will have to try making new ones ... smaller ones. FRUSTRATING!

They sell pom pom makers, I've no idea how they work or if they make life easier. But maybe they'd be something to consider if they'd make pom poms more positive for you:) I love the look of pom poms but never knew they took so much time and effort. The leg warmers are cute!

Thanks for your comment. As I only have two more pompoms to go :-) and don't really intend on making many more in the future ;-) I don't think a pompom maker would be a very good investment. But thank you for the kind suggestion! I also found a much better way to make pompoms - as you can read in the next post if you like.
And I also really like the legwarmers. If I ever finish the ones for my daughter I would really like to make some for myself! If I just could knit a bit faster ... *sigh*

I saw a pom pom maker at Christmas and kicked myself for not buying it. Then I thought...there's got to be a way to make these myself. Then I forgot I even wanted pom poms...(daily life does that...) But LOOK!!! YOU did it! Fantastic! I've got a slumber party in the works for my girls tonight and we are SO going to do that!

PS.
So glad you used the email-link graphic, it looks great on your blog!
