Most important lesson to be learned as a parent:

You are not in control! 

Whatever you do, plan, organize ... things can always change. Even last minute. When you  have kids!

So we celebrated little man's first birthday on Thursday. Just us and some yummy carrot cake with LOADS of cream cheese icing. Well, no icing for little man. He got his own tiny carrot cake and ate half of it for breakfast! :-D

We went to a tiny zoo type of thing and visited the ducks that he loves so much. We also watched guinea pigs, monkeys, horses, and huge pigs. He seemed to enjoy it!

But late afternoon he had high fever. 

We had to go to the doctor the next day. Another middle ear infection. Again antibiotics. 

So there will be no party at the weekend. And all my freakish party planning was/ would have been - luckily I had scaled it down alot - for nothing.

 

I am trying to enjoy some quiet time with the family - as much as you can do that with a sick baby.

Please excuse the very ugly plate. But it was the only plastic plate that I had on hand. (Am not usually using plastic dishware.)

Also will write some posts and answer emails ... but it is all going slow at the moment.
