More felt finger puppets

So here they are - finally done! The ones that I was working on for the last couple of days after making the first finger puppets.
Dog, cat, hedgehog and mouse! I LOVE them! Maybe I should hide them and keep them for myself ....
(They are really not hard to do. The reason why it took me so long was rather that there were other things popping up that had to be done ...)
It was really hard to take a picture of these guys. Especially since one is white and two are rather dark. They look much better in reality.
The close up photos were taken inside - so they are even less pretty. But I tried to take them outside and almost lost the hedgehog - which I really adore! A gust of wind took it away and into the neighbours backyard. I had to rescue it out of the HEDGE. Where else would a hedgehog get stuck? After that I was too scared to try to take any more photos outside ...

I tried to keep the facial features kinda minimalistic. This makes stitching easier ;-) ... and I like it. I figure as long as the animal is recognizable - it's enough. You could of course get much more elaborate!

They are sooooo sweet!
Now I am really-really green with envy. Some way or another I am going to try to do some myself, even if it kills me (just kidding, but you have no idea how clumsy I am when it comes to crafting! I always was...

Hi-

Thanks for the follow!
I was just looking at this post and thought what a cute idea because my 4 year old has been really showing an interest in doing crafts..a lot. I was thinking that maybe this would be a great way to get her into 'sewing'? What do you think?

If you look at this post http://muffinsnmore.blogspot.com/2010/04/look-who-is-peeping.html you can see that I think it is a good idea! ;-)
As there is not too much sewing involved I guess it could be a good "starter" project. I did however make the groundhog puppet wider than the ones I was sewing, simply because a small child is more likely to not stitch exactly at the edge. Also I figured out that it helps my daughter A LOT when I mark the points where the needle is supposed to go. You could just draw points with a marker on the felt. If you choose some lighter colored felt it will make things easier. With the groundhog puppet the felt we used was a dark brown so I could not mark for my daughter where the stitches were supposed to go. She did a good job but I realized that it is really hard for her to make them evenly spaced. Also I would recommend either glueing the facial features on the puppets or you could stitch the features before your daughter sews them together. I guess the stitching of the faces itself would probably be a bit hard ...
Hope that helps! And let me know how it goes! :-)
