Doll clothes

Meet Muncy. (I know the name is weird. But it's not her fault. Little bear named her all by herself. I have never heard of that name before and have no idea where she got it from ... but that's what she wanted to name her doll ... so that it is.)

Muncy really needed some new clothes. After buying an outfit for another doll and paying as much as for babys' clothes - seriously!!! - I thought there must be another way. And when I saw those great tutorials on Obsessively stitching I was inspired. :-)
So I sorted through many old clothes of little bear and put some to the side that could not be worn anymore or were made out of funny material (I prefer cotton and wool and stuff like that for childrens' clothes). I wanted to turn them into doll clothes. And finally I started to make one outfit for Easter. (There are still many clothes waiting to be made though.)

I started out making some doll pants out of old pants. That was rather easy. Then I was stuck trying to make a shirt. Well ... I finally made one without sleeves. Making shirts turned out to be surprisingly hard!!!
And whoever it is that desings dolls: SHAME ON YOU! Why is it that dolls always have such huge heads!? How is one supposed to make a shirt that will fit over their heads? (I mean without some type of closure.)

Since it is still rather cool and we don't want Muncy to freeze in her sleeveless shirt I made her a cape as well. I cut it out of fleece. NICE, since it does not fray. But not very stretchy so I had to make a big opening for the head and sew on ribbons to close it. There is still a bag waiting to be sewn together out of the same material ...

And then I made her a hat out of the same material that the shirt is made from (also some old pants). I love that crochet flower on her hat! So cute!!!

So, what have I learned so far ... jersey pants work very well to make doll clothes! Still gotta figure out what to do with the rest of all the clothes ... But that will have to wait. Now I am really curious what little bear will say when she sees her Muncy all dressed up tomorrow! :-D
So far she has not even noticed that Muncy has gone missing.

Oh, and the boots were knitted by little bears grandmom. I was too lazy ... :-)
