Crinkly toy

Finally managed to get this toy for little man done. He enjoys crinkling with all kinds of plastic stuff. And I am always rather worried what he might get into his hands next. Luckily he is not crawling yet!
So I made him this crinkly toy which is save for him to crinkle, chew, spit on, look at, hide behind ... whatever he wants. :-)
I did not really follow a tutorial but rather looked at these two - one on the blog Chasing cheerios and one on Joy's Hope - and then went ahead and just did it. The seams are not straight and I did not even bother to get out my rotary cutter. But for once I finished it relatively quickly. And that's what counts. I figured it does not make any sense to make a perfect little toy with straight seems and everything ... and it's finished when little man is walking around ...

This is the "inside". (And yes, I do love gummy bears!)

Little man LOVES black and white patterns. So I wanted to make one side in black and white. I did not have any black and white fabric ... so I simply chose some black fabric and added white stitching (do not look too close at this - first time I tried it) and white ribbons.

Little man loves black and white, but this is followed closely by red. He loves red, too and therefore I wanted the other side to be red.

Done!

So now he can finally

crinkle it ...

chew on it ...

spit on it ...

look at it ...

hide behind it ...

... or whatever else he wants to do with it. :-)

(Word of advice which you probably do not need: Be careful to make the hole for turning the toy inside out big enough. I almost had to rip some seams to be able to turn it inside out.)

great idea, and a great excuse to eat some gummy bears. I will be making this for my new baby..

Oh, if you do make one I would be very happy to get to see a photo or you can put a link to your blog in the comment section. :-)
You could of course also use a cereal bag instead of the bag of gummy bears - would be a healthier option. ;-) But not as much fun in my opinion! :-D
